Viennese Antidiscrimination Unit for lesbian, gay and transgendered people

WASt The WASt is the first and only LGBT-unit in Austria within a public administration.
It was formed in 1998 and is part of the City Councilor’s Office for Integration, Women‘s Issues, Consumer Protection and Personnel.

Main missions of the work are:

Check the Viennese provincial law for discriminatory contents
Proposals to the City Government and City Administration
Education and retraining
Liaison between the LGBT-Community and the City of Vienna
Counselling and case work
Public relations
Networking and participation in EU-Projects
