Broken Rainbow e.V. is a non-profit umbrella organization of lesbian, lesbian-gay and transsexual anti-violence projects. It was founded in 2002 and is located in Berlin. The organization aims at fighting hate crime and discrimination of women loving women and tans*people. It promotes a “politics of diversity” and puts a focus on intersectionality. Since 2003 Broken Rainbow e.V. runs a research institute in Frankfurt/M. It offers case management, guided self-help groups and does research.
Former European projects dealt with prejudice against lesbian women, awareness raising strategies to fight domestic violence in same-sex partnerships, lesbian/female perpetrators of domestic violence and on breaking the taboo of domestic violence in l(g)bt subcultures. The research institute organizes annual trainings for its members and coordinates national and European projects.
